YAVA Becomes One Brick Boston!

In 2005 a group of civic minded Northeastern University graduates created a group called YAVA (Young Alumni Volunteer Association). Their vision was simple -- connect young professionals and recent grads in the Boston area through one time volunteer opportunities, followed by socializing at a bar or restaurant. Since then they've recruited 1,500 volunteers and contributed over 6,000 volunteer hours to over 50 nonprofits across the city.

In 2011 they looked for help supporting their work and started talking with One Brick. One Brick started in 2001 with an almost indentical vision. One Brick had taken the idea one step further and built the infrastructure to support large-scale volunteering. One Brick now has chapters in 11 US cities. Towards the end of 2011 YAVA decided to Join the One Brick family.

Starting Jan 1st, 2012. YAVA will become One Brick Boston.

To join us at one of our many event simply check the calendar and RSVP

About One Brick

One Brick brings volunteers together to support other non-profit organizations by adopting an innovative twist to the volunteer experience: we create a friendly and social atmosphere around volunteering, and after each volunteer event, we invite volunteers to gather at a local restaurant or cafe where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting.

Our 'commitment-free volunteering' allows you to choose when you volunteer, rather than having to make commitments for a certain number of volunteer hours, or agree to be available every week at a specific time.

Volunteering made easy!
